Stewartsville became a Reading First school in 2006.  Reading First is the academic cornerstone of the No Child Left Behind Act.  As a Reading First school, we are awarded significant sums of money over a three year period.  This money allows us to purchase materials for students and teachers.  It provides opportunities for our staff to receive outstanding professional development and to keep abreast of ever changing strategies and techniques.  The added position of a reading coach is funded for our K-3 grade levels.  As a coach, I serve as a resource for all classroom teachers, special education teachers, and instructional aides.
