I am the Speech-Language Pathologist at Stewartsville Elementary School. I work with preschool and elementary age children that have been found eligible for speech-language services.
Some of the areas addressed in school-based speech-language services are the following:
Articulation: Articulation is the process by which sounds, syllables, and words are formed when your tongue, jaw, teeth, lips, and palate alter the air stream coming from the vocal folds.
Language: Language includes receptive skills, such as following directions and understanding concepts, and expressive skills, such as using appropriate sentence structure and grammar and responding to questions.
Fluency: Fluency involves speaking at an appropriate rate, with smooth and connected speech.
Please contact me at Stewartsville Elementary School if you have concerns about your child's speech-language abilities. I can also be reached at gterry@bedford.k12.va.us. |
